I want to talk about the importance of living a Christian lifestyle. Really all you have to do is just show kindness to anyone you meet and through that you’re showing God’s love to that person. But not everyone is looking for kindness, so you could show them something that many people look at, the music you listen to. This is one of the first things I look at. I can tell a lot about a person by what they listen to. Personally I show who I am by listening mostly to Christian or positive uplifting music. As Christians, we need to choose what we listen to carefully. We need to understand that everything isn’t “good,” “true,” or “okay” (even so-called “Christian” music) without using our God-given minds to carefully think about what it is saying. We shouldn’t say “all worldly music is evil” - as if God’s Glory, Way, and Will can’t be reflected in popular music. Instead, we should enjoy all music so that we can celebrate the good stuff, improve the weak stuff, . . . respond to the bad stuff, and use our God-given gifts to create new stuff. If we do this, God can change someone’s life.

I know that in the world we live in today, being a Christian is sometimes a hard thing to do. This is true for every Christian, including myself. Our views are different than the world’s views, we can’t just blend in to be your “everyday person”; we need to stand out with our words and more importantly our actions.
To me my actions are very important; they say who I am as a person, and what I believe in. I try to be the best Christian I can be everyday, set good examples, because you never know who you can influence by just living your life. Although, unfortunately I’m still a human, I mess up, and sometimes I don’t live up to the standard God wants me to.  All of these actions have consequences, whether you see them or not. I believe that the best testimony you can give is not with words, but with your actions, showing what it’s truly like to live for God.
To myself, as a teenager, this is a bit challenging; but the rewards are great. I’ve had people come up to me whom I’ve never met and asked me a question about God or the Bible. The first time this ever happened I was a bit shocked. I didn’t really know this girl, but she was curious about God and wanted to know more. This moment made me realize even more that I need to step it up a notch, no more blending in with the world, no more being just a normal teenage guy, and with my group of friends that’s a lot easier said than done.
The guys I hang out with most the time aren’t exactly the type that come to church very often (besides Jesse Jackson of course). It was so much easier just to act like my friends, the big football guys who "Don’t take nothin’ from no one". But the more I started acting and talking like I should have been in the first place, the more good things started to happen. My friends accepted my faith and some of those big macho guys even were a little curious about the whole God thing. Heck, we had conversations that didn’t involve sports or girls, that’s a big accomplishment for the whole male society!
As I share this, I can do is offer my advice, don’t hide in the shadows of the world anymore, Live in the light of God, and your light will shine. You never know how your daily actions could change someone’s life. I hope that you’d pray that I will continue living for God and that I show what God is all about in my daily life.
